About Dr. David Bray

Chiropractor & Pelvic Floor Specialist | Glastonbury, CT

A Different Kind of Provider

Dr. Bray didn't arrive at chiropractic the way most people do. He graduated from the University of Bridgeport School of Chiropractic in 2025 as Valedictorian, Summa Cum Laude.

By that point, he had already spent nearly fifteen years building one of the most uncommon clinical backgrounds in the field.

That background is the reason patients find their way to him, often after trying everything else.

The Foundation

It started with martial arts. Dr. Bray has trained since childhood and holds a 5th degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, along with black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Shaolin Chin-Na, with additional training in Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

He co-owned and instructed at the Connecticut Shotokan & Chin-Na Center, teaching students of all ages and running self-defense seminars for women and older adults — and was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Shotokan Instructor of the Year in 2016.

That foundation — understanding how the body moves, how it compensates, and how it breaks down — shapes everything about how he practices today.

In 2011, wanting to deepen his understanding of anatomy and the body's healing processes, Dr. Bray enrolled at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and earning the Academic Achievement Award.

He went on to teach massage therapy at the same institution from 2013 to 2016, instructing courses in orthopedic assessment, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, and tutoring students for national board preparation.

He opened his orthopedic massage and rehabilitation practice in 2013, working alongside physicians, chiropractors, and physical therapists to treat patients with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, and motor vehicle collision injuries.

During that time he also served as the Licensed Massage Therapist for the Hartford Athletic professional soccer team.

Building the Clinical Foundation

From 2014 through 2020, Dr. Bray pursued a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science at Southern Connecticut State University, graduating Cum Laude with a pre-medical concentration and a 4.0 GPA in his pre-med coursework.

He was inducted into the Zeta Delta Epsilon Honorary Society, served as Board Member and Secretary of the Exercise Physiology Club, and completed a sports internship with the SCSU Swimming & Diving Team that culminated in a regional championship. He sat for the MCAT in February 2020.

When COVID-19 disrupted that admissions cycle despite strong metrics, Dr. Bray used the setback to re-evaluate how he actually wanted to practice — and found in chiropractic a framework that would let him bring everything he had built together into a single, integrated model of care.

Chiropractic School & Beyond

Dr. Bray enrolled at the University of Bridgeport School of Chiropractic in 2021, simultaneously pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport Nutrition Institute, which he completed in 2024 with a 4.0 GPA, Summa Cum Laude.

During chiropractic school he served as a Teaching Assistant and tutor for the Physician Assistant Institute and School of Chiropractic, assisting with cadaver dissection and prosections for graduate-level education and tutoring all academic subjects across all four years of the DC program.

He completed a chiropractic internship at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Newington Campus, gaining experience with complex, multi-condition patients in a highly demanding clinical environment.

His academic achievements at UB were recognized with three awards at graduation: the Valedictorian Award for the highest cumulative GPA in his class, the Clinical Excellence Award for exceptional patient care on the recommendation of faculty clinicians, and the Student Research Award for significant contributions to research projects and poster presentations.

He also received the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners Scholarship for achieving the highest combined score on the 6-section NBCE Part I board examination at UBSC — including the highest Biochemistry score of all test takers.

Pelvic Floor Specialization

Pelvic floor care became a specific clinical focus for Dr. Bray after he repeatedly noticed how little attention it received across multiple training programs — and how significant the clinical consequences of that gap were for patients.

That gap became personal. During chiropractic school, Dr. Bray developed pelvic floor dysfunction himself, dealing with persistent pain that affected every position — walking, standing, sitting, lying down — for nearly two years.

He was passed between providers, received inconsistent explanations, and underwent pelvic floor therapy that felt generic and incomplete. He ultimately resolved the condition himself by applying his own clinical knowledge — and that experience fundamentally shaped how he practices today.

He has since completed advanced post-doctoral training through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, including Pelvic Function Levels 1, 2A, 2B, and 2C — a course specifically focused on male pelvic health — as well as a subspecialty diploma in hip and pelvis specialization through the Academy of Clinical Massage. He is also an approved Teaching Assistant with the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, one of the most respected pelvic rehabilitation training programs in the country.

He is one of the few providers in Connecticut — of any discipline — offering evidence-based pelvic floor rehabilitation for both men and women.

Research & Professional Contributions

Dr. Bray remains actively engaged in clinical research and professional education. He is currently seeking publication for a pilot study comparing the effectiveness of four manual therapy techniques in the treatment of myofascial trigger points.

He has presented a Grand Rounds case study on sciatic nerve entrapment and multiple crush syndrome, placed 3rd in the Doctoral category at the University of Bridgeport's research poster competition, and was invited to deliver a guest lecture to UBSC students and faculty on chiropractic management of pelvic floor dysfunction and women's health.

He also serves as a Practitioner Investigations Consultant for the Connecticut Department of Public Health, providing expert opinions on massage therapy malpractice claims and professional consensus statements on provider documentation — a role that reflects a level of professional recognition that goes well beyond typical clinical practice.

A Note on His Approach

Patients often describe leaving an appointment with Dr. Bray having learned more about their body in one visit than in years of prior care. He approaches every case like a puzzle — not looking for the fastest answer, but for the right one.

That means asking questions other providers don't get to, looking at the regions surrounding a problem, and explaining what he's finding in plain language before anything is done.

His goal is for every patient to leave not just feeling better, but understanding why — and knowing what to do about it going forward.
